The Creation Station is all about having fun, sparking curiosity, inspiring imagination and nurturing creativity through arts and crafts. Activities are suitable for children from 6 months to school age with a parent or carer. Currently, we have one mixed age session which works perfectly for siblings of different ages. In each session, we take part in a group activity, often painting. Then there’ll be opportunity to paint their own picture before starting our making activity. Each session you’ll be able to take home a wonderful piece of artwork your child has created. We usually finish with a sensory play activity. Recent favourites have included crazy soap, gloop and bubbly water.
This term our theme is Scrunchy, Crunchy Hands-on discovery. We’ve had great fun exploring scrunchy crunchy harvest activities, making harvest pictures and footprint tractor canvases. My favourite has been see-through week where everyone made stunning fish tanks! Coming up soon, we will be exploring: splodge and splat, and wriggly jiggly! There will be some Christmas themed activities near the end of term.
We meet each Tuesday at Duxford Community Centre at 10am. The room is set up with a central area where we begin our session and paint together. Sensory activities can be together or individual. As we are in the small hall, we have plenty of space and children have their own large mat and work area. We work on the floor, so they are free to crawl safely. Children are given an all-in-one splash suit to protect their clothing and where possible their own set of resources to use. Everyone is also provided with flannels to help with cleaning hands and faces at the end! Look forward to meeting you soon on your creative journey.
